Did you know that as a member in good standing with the Michigan Beekeeper’s Association you are entitled to a discount on the major beekeeping magazines? It’s true! And the discount can be substantial.
This discount is available for the American Bee Journal (for sure) and I think Bee Culture. There may be other journals that offer a similar deal.
To secure the discount, you probably have to contact the publisher directly (that is to say, renew or start your membership by calling them). I recently contacted the American Bee Journal (1-800-922-1293) to renew my subscription. The normal subscription rates for this fine, must-read magazine are $26.00 for 1 year, $49.30 for 2 years and $69.95 for 3 years. The discount with the ABJ is 25%, so a 2 year renewal was only $37.00; a savings of $12.30. Not bad.
The procedure with ABJ is to call Customer Service at 1-888-922-1293. Tell them you are a member of the MBA and they will apply the discount to the subscription.
I understand that the other beekeeping magazines will do the same. If anyone has had experience with these other magazines, I encourage you to enter a comment to this post and describe the procedure.
Getting the magazines are a win-win situation. The publisher gets you as a subscriber and you get great information!

This is a great deal – I just renewed with ABJ and saved myself $6.75. Do note though that the ABJ customer service number is 1-888-922-1293 and not as published in the article above.
Thanks Jonathan for the phone number correction. The artcile has been editted accordingly.
